May June Roma Adult Flyers Untitled Page 8

The New Providence Library is pleased to host a concert with music from the Swing era led by the Florian
Schantz Jazz Combo. The program will focus on well-known standards
from the 1930’s and 1940’s by well known composers like Duke
Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Harry Warren.

The group’s band leader is Union County-based, 21-year-old
professional trumpet player Florian Schantz, who formed the band when
he was 9 years old. Florian has performed over 825 engagements across
NJ, NY, CT, PA, and Germany, including over 150 libraries.

Also appearing with the group are Rup Chattopadhyay on trombone, Margaret
Schantz on Flügelhorn, Cory Ackerman on drums, and Lowell Schantz on
guitar. More about the band at www.VFSJazz.com.

This arts program is made possible in part by a 2024 HEART (History,
Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board
of County Commissioners.
