Skills-Based Hiring: How to Position Yourself
Thursday, April 18, 2024, 06:30pm - 08:00pm

Skills Based LearningOrganizations are moving toward a new approach to staffing.  According to a global Deloitte survey of more than 1,200 professionals, organizations increasingly emphasize skills, in addition to education or past job titles, when hiring.  In this workshop, we will focus on establishing and communicating your skills, competency, experience, and education to better position yourself as a viable job candidate.

We will concentrate on reworking your resume, LinkedIn profile and elevator pitch to demonstrate the skills you have learned and used in your work, school, and personal experiences.  Skills focus is essential for people needing to translate their skills for pivoting to a new industry, job, and/or function.

Ken Cavanagh is a certified career management coach who spent most of the last decade as the Director of Career Advising for Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, Graduate Programs.  He has advised hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students across over 20 different degree programs on their career aspirations and job search techniques.
