Garden Events @ NPML

Join us for 2 garden events. Both will include demos and discussion from Bryan Lowe, a local landscape designer.

The first is
Container Gardening on Saturday, May 18 @ 11AM. Bryan will show and tell us how to create bright inviting focal points with different types of pots, plants and design.

The second is Deer Resistant Gardening on Saturday, June 8 @ 11AM. Bryan promises to show us how to have a beautiful landscape without feeding the deer. Learn what plants they don’t like and how to deter them from eating and damaging the plants you already have. Don’t purchase another plant until you’ve heard this talk.

The Tracy Event!

Come out on Sunday, June 2 at 2PM to hear New Providence's own author and star syndicated columnist Tracy Beckerman speak about her brand new book "Lost in Suburbia: A Momoir: How I Got Pregnant, Lost Myself, And Got My Cool Back in the New Jersey Suburbs."

The book details how when Tracy trades in her TV job and cool NYC existence for the New Jersey suburbs, she doesn’t expect to also trade in her entire identity. But her new life as a stay-at-home mom knocks her for a loop in more ways than one.
From the embarrassment of being ticketed while driving in her bathrobe to the challenge of making friends in the land of big hair and minivans, Beckerman shares her struggles with self-deprecating humor as she reveals the universal trials, tribulations, and triumphs of every mom who has to figure out how to stay sane while fishing Barbie heads out of the toilet.

Tracy will speak, sign books and share her cool-ness. Event is FREE. Books will be available for purchase.

Movies @ NPML

The beautiful Spring weather continues in May and we will be starting the movie schedule one week late on May 14 because the room will be in use for kindergarten testing.  Once again, no movie on May 7.  However, on May 14 we have quite a blockbuster planned.  For everybody out there who's been waiting for it, we are finally able to show Lincoln and you can view Daniel Day Lewis' Oscar-nominated performance for yourself.

For the foreign movie enthusiasts, the schedule has already started.  We'll be showing Like Stars on Earth on May 14 at 6PM.  It's the story of a boy who's curiosity leads him to finally find himself through the care of a concerned teacher.  In Hindi and English with English subtitles.

Here are the May movies:

May 2 @ 2PM Like Stars on Earth
May 7 @ 9:30AM & 2PM   NO MOVIE

May 14 @ 9:30AM & 2PM Lincoln

May 14 @ 6PM Like Stars on Earth

May 21 @ 9:30AM & 2PM Les Miserables
