A virtual lecture with art historian Sylvia Laudien-Meo. Public art throughout New York City includes a recent marker for the original slave market, the African Burial Ground, which was rediscovered in the 1990s and now graced with a very impressive memorial, several controversial 19th century sculptures representing African Americans, and in recent times, public art honoring people like Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass.
