New Providence School District   

We are happy to partner with the New Providence School District to help students find their required reading materials during the summer months.

New Providence Middle School

Rising 7th & 8th grade Summer Reading requirements can be found here: https://sites.google.com/npsdnj.org/npmshs-media-center/summer-reading-ms

7th Grade:

Incoming 7th graders are to read 2 books of their choice, which they haven't read before. Then they are to complete an assignment on each book (Word doc available using the above link.)

You can find lots of titles to satisfy these requirements in our Catalog

8th Grade:

Rising 8th Grade students are to read 2 books:

  • 1 Fiction
  • 1 Nonfiction

They are required to take notes using the Note Taking template available on the above link through the Middle School media center's page. Students may choose a title from the suggestions on the teachers' list, or they may choose something else at the appropriate YA or adult reading level.

New Providence High School

Rising 9th-12th grade LA Summer Reading requirements are available here, and vary based on course selection: https://www.npsd.k12.nj.us/Page/537

  • AP Language and Composition: Devil in the White City and study AP terms
  • AP Literature and Composition: The Kite Runner and one other book
  • All Other Lang Arts Courses: One book from NPHS Reading List for your grade
